Author Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting to The Journal of CTE Teacher Education. We are committed to publishing high-quality research, best practices, and innovations in the field of Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher development. To ensure consistency and clarity in the review process, please adhere to the following guidelines when preparing your manuscript.

1. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should follow standard academic journal conventions and be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. Please use APA 7th Edition for all citations, references, and formatting.

• Title Page: The title page should include the manuscript title, with author names, affiliations, and contact information redacted. The title should be concise and descriptive, with a limit of 15 words.

• Abstract: Provide an abstract of 150-250 words summarizing the purpose, methods, findings, and significance of the study.

• Keywords: Include 4-6 relevant keywords directly below the abstract.

• Main Body: Manuscripts should be structured as follows:

  • Introduction: Clearly state the purpose of the study, research questions, or objectives.

  • Literature Review: Provide a context and background for the study by reviewing relevant literature.

  • Methods: Clearly describe the research design, participants, procedures, and analysis.

  • Results: Present findings using tables, charts, or graphs where appropriate.

  • Discussion: Interpret the results, link them to the literature, and outline implications.

  • Conclusion: Summarize the key findings, limitations, and potential for future research.

• References: All in-text citations and references should follow APA 7th Edition formatting. Ensure that all cited sources are listed in the reference section.
  
  
  

2. Formatting Requirements

• Manuscripts should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins on all sides.

• Use a 12-point Times New Roman font for the body text.

• All pages must include line numbers for ease of review.

• Include section headings and subheadings as appropriate, formatted according to APA guidelines.
  
  
  

3. Length

• Research Articles: Should not exceed 8,000 words, including the abstract, references, tables, and figures.

• Best Practices/Case Studies: Should be between 3,000-5,000 words.

• Review Articles: Should not exceed 6,000 words.

• Short Reports/Innovative Approaches: Should be no more than 3,000 words.
  
  
  

4. Peer Review Process

• All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. To facilitate this:

• Ensure that no identifying information (names, institutions) appears in the manuscript itself. This includes in-text citations where the author is cited (e.g., "as noted in Author, 2021").

• The title page (with author details) should be submitted as a separate file.
  
  
  

5. Figures and Tables

• Figures and tables should be placed at the end of the manuscript after the references. Indicate where they should appear in the text using placeholders (e.g., "Insert Table 1 here").

• Ensure that all figures and tables are cited in the main text.

• Each figure and table should have a descriptive title and, if necessary, footnotes to explain key data points.
  
  
  

6. Ethical Considerations

• Authors are expected to follow ethical guidelines for research, including obtaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval if applicable.

• Disclose any potential conflicts of interest in the cover letter submitted alongside your manuscript.

• AI Use Policy for Submissions: The Journal of CTE Teacher Education encourages the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the research and writing process. Authors who utilize AI in their submissions must:

  • Disclose Usage: Clearly indicate any use of AI tools in the research and writing process within the manuscript. This includes, but is not limited to, generating content, conducting literature reviews, or data analysis.

  • Ensure Originality: Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions maintain originality and adhere to ethical standards of academic integrity. AI-generated content should not replace the authors' critical analysis or interpretations.

  • Comply with Standards: All submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal's established standards for quality and rigor, regardless of whether AI tools were used.

Failure to disclose the use of AI in a submission may result in a manuscript being deemed non-compliant with journal policies and could lead to its rejection.

7. Submission Process

• Submissions should be made through our online submission system [link to submission portal]. All manuscripts must include the following:

• Title Page: Containing the manuscript title and author details (submitted as a separate file).

• Main Manuscript: Double-spaced, including line numbers, and formatted per APA 7th edition guidelines.

• Cover Letter: Briefly introduce the submission and explain its significance to CTE teacher education.

• Submission fee: A non-refundable submission fee of $25 must be paid at the time of manuscript submission. This fee helps cover the administrative and peer review costs associated with the journal. Submissions will not be reviewed until the payment is received.
  
  

8. Review Timeline

Authors will receive a confirmation of submission within one week and can expect initial feedback within 8-12 weeks. Following peer review, manuscripts may be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected.

9. Publication Fees

Upon notification of manuscript acceptance, authors are required to pay a $100 publication fee. This fee supports the cost of maintaining the journal and disseminating the published research. Payment of this fee is required prior to final publication of the article. Waivers are available in return for serving as a peer reviewer for JCTETE.
